Pan y Leche Bakery was founded in 1981 in the city of Wilmington, CA by Eliseo Gutierrez. The bakery was originally named, "El Centavo Bakery" and located at 1443 N. Avalon Blvd. The bakery was a favorite stop for locals and high school students to buy "Don Eliseo's" famous burritos and pan dulce. Don Eliseo brought his authentic recipes with him from Michoacan, Mexico when he immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950's with the dream of one day opening his own business.

The bakery experienced much success and in 1997, Don Eliseo passed on his business to his daughter Mimi. Since then, Mimi, together with her children, exapnded the bakery's wholesale business and re-located the bakery to it's current location at 713 W. Anahiem Street in Wilmington, CA. In addition to Don Eliseo's original offerings, the bakery now includes unique selections and flavors from all over Latin America making Pan Y Leche today very much an international-Latino bakery and café.
